heartbreak over a dress

We were headed to Sabetha for a day with the cousins on the farm, and my five-year-old Ellie wanted to wear a frothy summer dress. I said no. Crying ensued, and a resolution to go to her own bed and stay there till I came back home at the end of the day. Here’s the sign she made:

In standard English: I am sad! Nothing can make me happy! Let me wear this!
Oh the pathos. πŸ™‚

  1. Ha ha ha…this reminds me of an angry note I wrote to my brothers once. All they did was make fun of my spelling. πŸ˜›

This is great! Amelie has a stash of such notes that she pulls out as needed. She hides them in her room and then finds the right one for the occasion. I have gotten really good at reading phonetically. πŸ™‚
