Bring Your peace into our violence

Today our worship leader, Robbie, led us in singing the Chris Rice song “Welcome to Our World.” (And here’s a quick shout-out to Robbie, who doesn’t let us get distracted on our path to the throne.)
This year, I feel the weight of our violent world. We are so screwed up here on earth. Like wailing wraiths, our heads in our hopeless hands, we scream for redemption. We clamor for healing. Where is God? God, save us! We cannot help but torture each other and twist the beauty that was in Eden.

Fragile finger sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorn
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born
Unto us is born

Violence was done to the Perfect One so that we could be healed. I don’t want to insult him anymore by pretending I don’t need this gift.

  1. What a lovely post.
You would love the book your sister is wanting to read: Jesus For President.
The authors are pacifists. In reading the book, I have come to completely “get” why national war really isn’t biblical, that it’s the antithesis of Jesus-love.
In my clouded patriotic-supported mind, I felt I *had* to be for violence in times of war, only to realize that Jesus came to set us free from violence and war.
How timely is your post! Thank you for sharing.

Matt sang this song at church a few years ago for Sophie’s baby dedication. I love it!
